Welcome to this month's Good News!
We are growing faster than we ever expected - just this past week we welcomed two dozen new members! That is pretty incredible. And YOU are at the helm of it all! With each edition of the Mentoring Moment, we try to keep you aware of just a few of the many ways you can stay connected and committed to your own recovery. Also, for our mentoring teams, your mentoring monthly surveys are now due! Please make sure you complete the surveys and get them back to us asap! :) By the way, if you missed an edition of the Mentoring Moment, visit our archives HERE to catch up on all that your community is up to! Warmly and with HOPE,
Shannon, Kimberly, Jeanette, Andrea, Lynn, Cheryl, & Thom (your MC Leadership & Advisory Team)

Match with a Personal Recovery Mentor in Three EZ Steps!
MentorCONNECT is proud to be the first organization of its kind to offer one-on-one mentoring matchups!
If you would like to take advantage of your membership benefit to match with one of our caring volunteer mentors, here is how:
1. ORDER "Beating Ana" from your local library or bookseller
2. Complete the "Beating Ana Chapter One" exercise
3. EMAIL your answer to Jeanette
It really is that easy!
Why do we ask you to read 30 pages of a book before beginning a mentoring partnership? Simply because once you understand the Mentor Model we use here on MentorCONNECT, you will be both knowledgeable AND fired up to make the most of your chance to be mentored!
Our mentors are standing by, on call to support you and reassure you that YES, recovery really IS possible for YOU too!

Take a walk down 8 mile with Eminem!
We all struggle with something. That is what it means to be human.
Eminem's
battle for self-acceptance was as difficult as any. He didn't have an
eating disorder, but he, too, always felt like the deck was always
stacked against him.
So how did he get from there...to where he is today?

Our Next MC Teleconference Is Almost Here!
September 16: "Friends Don't Let Friends Talk Fat"
 The premise of "Fat Talk
Free Week" national event each October is to work together to prevent the
negative body perceptions and attitudes that contribute to deadly eating
disorders. In this teleconference you will be introduced to "body activism".
You will learn how to control the thoughts you think and the words you speak
and in this way activate your own personal power to affect positive change and
literally prevent eating disorders! Each teleconference attendee will also
receive a personal invitation to participate in this year's Fat Talk Free Week
which takes place October 13-17, 2009.

Practice makes....practice. *
Recovery from an eating disorder, recovery from perfection,
recovery from anything, is not something we find one day. It's not even
anything we accumulate with time. Recovery is a daily practice of self-care,
including self-compassion and the inner-tough-love that it takes to keep us
making good choices for ourselves --- even on the days when we don't feel like
taking care of ourselves.
Thom Rutledge is a noted speaker/trainer, workshop facilitator, author of "Simple Truth"
and "Embracing Fear", and co-author (with Jenni Schaefer) of "Life Without Ed". Thom is also the co-coordinator of the monthly MentorCONNECT Teleconference Series. For more information about Thom, visit him at www.nutshellwisdom.com
