MC Mentoring Meetup

Are you a new or returning Mentee or Mentor Level member who is seeking a mentoring match? This page has everything you need to know to get started.

How It Works

1. Visit the Find A Mentor page (below) to view the list of available mentors
2. Select one mentor to contact
3. Be sure to put the word "MentorCONNECT" in the email subject line to minimize spam filter issues
4. Wait a minimum of seven (7) days for a response from that mentor
5. If no response is returned, you may contact us for assistance to make contact with that mentor
6. If that mentor is not available, you may repeat steps #1-5 until you make a match
7. MentorCONNECT does not "match" mentors and mentees, although we will provide communications assistance in the case of #3 above
8. MentorCONNECT makes no guarantees of a mentoring match
9. Mentees who do not follow this matching system will have matching privileges revoked

Helpful Hints

Mentee members who tend to be successful at making a mentoring match share the following qualities:

1. Their recovery is always the #1 priority
2. They are willing to adapt to their mentor's schedule and availability
3. Their criteria for selecting a mentor does not require synchronicity (re: age, diagnosis, etc)
4. They thoroughly read and follow the Immediate Action Plan (see below and also in the Mentee Orientation Packet) to make sure their selected mentor is a good match before they begin working together
5. They regularly conduct a Mentoring Team Assessment Plan (see below and also in the Mentee Orientation Packet) with their mentor to discuss openly, honestly, and without judgment how effective the partnership is
