Moderation Policy

The MC Forums are pro-recovery-focused.

In other words, here on MentorCONNECT, we are willing to do whatever it takes to kick Ed's butt....once and for all.

Because it takes an army (or a community!) to beat Ed, we all share the responsibility to educate ourselves about what pro-recovery looks like, walks like, talks like, and acts like. We have to constantly ask ourselves "What Would Recovery Do?", rather than "What Would Ed Do?"

We want to give everyone a chance to recover and to enjoy the safe, pro-recovery community we are developing through MC.

This is why, instead of immediately banning a MC member who posts triggering content or violates our Rules and Policies, we have instituted a staged warning system. We'd rather partner with you to help you improve your communications than have to ask you to leave!

For this reason, the MC warning system involves the following five stages:

Stage One: You will be issued a caution only and invited to re-read the Forums Rules and the Pro-Recovery Communications Guidelines, and to ask questions of the MC Leadership Team before resuming activity as a Forums member

Stage Two: You will be issued a second caution and invited to re-read the Forums Rules and the Pro-Recovery Communications Guidelines, with the reminder that a 3rd caution will result in a temporary suspension from public posting privileges on the MC Forums

Stage Three: You will be issued a caution along with a temporary suspension from posting privileges for all Forums activities (the suspension does not extend to working one-on-one with your MC mentor if you are Mentee Level status). The suspension period will be for one week, and will be imposed with an encouragement to once more review all of the Rules and Guidelines prior to resuming activity as a Forums member

Stage Four: If, after your temporary suspension is lifted and you once again receive a caution for posting triggering content, you will be issued a second temporary suspension. During the suspension period, which will be for two weeks, you will be asked to connect one-on-one with a MC Mentor (which, if you are General Support level, may require upgrading to Mentee Level membership before being allowed back on the Forums) to receive a higher level of support as you continue your participation in MC

Stage Five: If the first three stages are not sufficient to modify your triggering content so that the necessity for issuing repeated cautions ceases, your Forums participation privileges will be permanently revoked (this ban does not extend to working one-on-one with your MC mentor if your mentor is amenable)

NOTE: Bans will not be lifted so please interact wisely and use the CONTACT FORM on the Forums home page if you have questions about appropriate shares and posting!
