What is the difference between a treatment professional and a mentor?
Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at 10:10PM Quite simply, a mentor is a recovered person who, when invited to do so, is willing to support a recovering person in a non-clinical capacity by sharing their personal recovery strength, experience and hope.
Here on MentorCONNECT, we formally define a mentor as "a trusted guide who has knowledge and experience in a certain area, and is willing and able to share it".
A mentor is never a substitute or replacement for the medical care necessary for the treatment of eating disorders.
To learn more about how a mentor can be a valuable addition to the recovering person's support team, we invite you to review MentorCONNECT's Cooperation With Professionals Committee Packet.
